Those who wish to live and work with the sun can create the perfect room atmosphere with window awnings. Warema now offers a doubly safe solution with high wind stability and made of non-flammable material: the new window awnings with ZIP guidance and SecuTex fabric A2. Thanks to their excellent product characteristics, they are ideal both for private construction projects and for high-rise and public buildings with strict fire safety regulations.
The new window awnings with ZIP technology combine the best safety technologies by the sun shading expert Warema. In Germany SecuTex fibre A2 is certified non-flammable to DIN 4102-1, and is made from glass fibres that are coated with silicone. Unlike other highly flame-resistant materials, it develops significantly less smoke in the event of a fire and produces no toxic gases. The ZIP technology guarantees safety even in high winds. The curtain fabric runs quietly and seamlessly along a zipper in a guide rail attached to the side. Thanks to the high wind stability, large areas that are exposed to the wind can be shaded functionally and with no gap at the side. The window awnings can remain extended in wind thresholds of up to 24.4 m/sec, which equates to wind force 9, which breaks branches off trees and lifts tiles of roofs.
Safe shading even for large areas
Flexibility is another advantage of the new window awnings. Depending on the cover panel, they can even be used on construction sizes with a maximum width of 3.5 m and a height of 4.2 m. The curtain runs across the entire surface and height. A drive with reactive obstacle detection reliably protects the shading from damage. If the curtain meets a blockage, the motor instantly stops and retracts the sun shading system a little. It then tries again to move in the original direction. The motor stops after the third attempt in order to prevent damage. If the blockage is not due to a solid obstacle but caused, for instance, by a temporary gust of wind, then the awning will extend all the way despite the repeated attempts.
Design freedom for architects
With the high level of functionality and design variety, the new Warema window awnings with ZIP guidance and SecuTex fabric A2 are ideal for private use and in high-rise and public buildings. Regional building regulations in Germany define a high-rise building as one that is taller than 22 metres. As fire service turntable ladders can only reach a nominal rescue height of 23 metres, the fire protection requirements for these buildings are particularly strict. Thanks to the combination of Warema SecuTex fabric A2 and ZIP technology, the window awnings now comply with high-rise building regulations whilst also providing a high level of wind stability. There is an extensive range of colours to choose from in a total of 17 designs, 14 of which have just been introduced. The colours include a subtle white, grey and silver, plus yellow, orange, red, pink, green and blue, which can be used to add interesting accents. The highly varied spectrum also offers tremendous freedom for instance with façade designs for schools and day nurseries.
