Lightweight and aesthetic, sun sails have become an elegant shading solution for large spaces. In 2021, Warema is overhauling its Sonea sun sail range and replacing its previous products with three attractive innovations – flexible manual and motor-operated models that can be adapted perfectly to user requirements.

The lowest-priced product in the new range is the Sonea S40, which is designed for slightly smaller spaces. This model is operated via a crank that is easy to turn, stretching the fabric to both side poles. The parallel cut of the fabric ensures a uniform look. With a purist design for its poles and sun sail, the Sonea S40 blends in elegantly with its surroundings.

The Sonea S50 is also extended and retracted using a crank and can be used with a variety of symmetrical and asymmetrical fabric shapes, such as a trapezium or square. The sun sail can therefore be tailored to the conditions of a specific property. It can also be extended to one side. The Sonea S50’s exquisite design enhances the exterior of the property, promotes relaxation and provides extensive shading.

New technologies and aesthetic design
The highlight of the new Sonea range is the S70, which has an electric motor integrated into the fabric shaft, combining state-of-the-art technology with maximum comfort and outstanding design. The extension poles contain a new type of spring mechanism with a pulley. This space-saving system helps the fabric to maintain an elegant look and ensures high wind stability. As with the Sonea S50, this model is available with a range of fabric shapes, one-sided extension and provides shading for areas of up to 56 square metres.

Dimensions and shapes can be chosen individually, as can fabric types – the selection includes the familiar, standard-quality acrylic fabrics and a range of acrylic Lumera fabrics. The poles are available with powder coating or in stainless steel variants that ensure an elegant look. There is also the option of manual height adjustment so that the sail can be repositioned when the sun is low.

The new Sonea sun sails are suitable for many different areas, from large balconies to patios and spacious gardens. They can be free-standing or installed on a house wall. They are easy to install and supported by Warema’s wide-ranging services, which include measurements and mounting aids. Warema is also integrating the new sun sails into the Warema configurator to simplify consultation and make it easier to select and visualise products and materials.
