Warema’s new Windra 80 WF flat slat is the most wind-resistant flat slat currently available on the market. The Windra sun shading system with rail or cable guidance has been specially developed for facades in challenging locations exposed to the wind and can withstand wind speeds of up to 25 m/s.

External sun shading systems are the most effective solution for cost-effective energy management and thermal comfort. The sun’s thermal energy is repelled by the glazing, efficiently protecting the interior against overheating. External venetian blinds also offer flexible daylight utilisation with simultaneous glare control; the incidence of sunlight can be controlled via the adjustable slat angles. Flat slats have proven their architectural worth with their delicate and unobtrusive look. The streamlined flat slat systems have many variants that can be easily integrated into any structure, making them extremely popular with planners and property developers.

The most wind-resistant flat slat on the market
Wind-resistant solutions were previously available for tall buildings and facades in areas exposed to wind, including Warema external venetian blinds with beaded, rail-guided slats and fabric window awnings with stable easyZip guidance. But the Windra slat sets new standards in light guidance and aesthetics: it combines the delicate elegance of a flat slat with exceptional stability, ensuring flexible light guidance and reliable thermal protection even with high wind loads. Windra is currently the most wind-resistant flat slat on the market and can play an important role in building energy management.

Windra is 80 mm wide and retains the delicate features of a flat slat. Its stability has been increased considerably by doubling the material thickness and optimising its geometry. Both cables and rails can be used for its lateral guidance.

When Windra’s rail guidance was developed, particular emphasis was placed on the coupling between the guide pin and the plastic clip profile. The serious improvement in construction details has enabled wind stability to be improved even further. Warema has filed a patent for the construction concept.
With its intricate geometry, four trendy standard colours (RAL 9006, 9007, 7016 and DB 703) and a number of special slat colours, the new flat slat can be used in many different ways to customise aesthetically pleasing facades. It can be planned and integrated into common commercial and residential facades with both rail and cable guidance thanks to the proven quality and ease of assembly of Warema’s sun shading systems.
With lateral guide rails, the high-performance Windra system can withstand wind speeds of up to 25 m/s. The cable guidance variant can also resist higher wind speeds.

High performance for comfort and energy efficiency
With the Windra 80 WF flat slat, it is now possible to use external venetian blinds in taller buildings and on facades exposed to high wind loads. System failures caused by high winds are a thing of the past. The increased operating life of external sun shading helps make energy management more efficient while occupants remain as comfortable as always inside the building: as before, Windra flat slats allow daylight and external views to be controlled individually.
