A conservatory can improve your quality of life by allowing you to experience nature all year round and watch the changing of the seasons while protecting you from the elements. Even in the darker months, a conservatory is a great place to enjoy the daylight and the energy it gives. But to be able to use this extra living space 365 days a year, you will need a suitable sun shading system. This creates a comfortable climate in which you – and your houseplants – can benefit from the sunshine.

As a room with glass walls, a conservatory has very special shading requirements. If the sun shines all day long, it can get extremely hot. Efficient sun shading solutions have therefore been designed for large, often sloped glass surfaces that can be placed underneath and on top of the glass. Warema, the leading manufacturer of technical sun shading products, has the right model for every requirement and shape in its Climara range of conservatory awnings. The Climara W19, a starter product, and the W20, a premium solution, are external awnings that offer the best sun protection. They block most of the sun’s rays before they hit the glass, preventing the heat from actually entering the interior. Because the systems are exposed to the weather, Warema has designed them to be very weather-resistant and stable. Integrated brush seals protect the technology against soiling. The patented secudrive® technology in the W20 with lateral guidance across the entire length of the fabric also stops a light gap from forming between the fabric and guide rails and also guarantees sun shading in stronger winds. Climara W9 and W10 conservatory awnings are attractive solutions for beneath the glass. They are protected against soiling and weather and can be optimally incorporated into the room design. The W10 awning can be fitted with a valance roller blind that is radio-controlled via WMS. Optional LED strips in the guide rails and designer radiant heaters ensure the conservatory stays just as cosy in the evening.

Relax with automatic controls
Efficient protection against heat and glare is about more than just shading. Intelligent control is essential to ensure that the sun shading reaches its full potential. This makes the system very easy to use and protects it against weather damage while also stopping the conservatory from overheating, even when nobody is there. The Climara W20 awning has an integrated WMS sensor system for additional security and greater comfort. The sensor measures wind, brightness and rainfall. The awning retracts automatically in strong winds, rain or storms and extends when the sun comes out without the need for an external weather station. The awning can also be easily operated using the WMS hand-held transmitter or from a smartphone via WMS WebControl.

Attractive design with suitable sun shading solutions
Even if you’ve opted for unusual architecture, you can still use fully automated sun shading. Special solutions are required for glass surfaces of unusual forms, such as triangular, trapezoidal and hipped roofs. Whatever the case, Warema has the awning for you. Since the sun doesn’t always shine down from above, regardless of the conservatory’s architecture, it is recommended to combine products to create external shading on the side walls. This keeps the heat outside while still enabling you to enjoy the daylight in a comfortable atmosphere.

External venetian blinds are particularly suitable here. When the slats are positioned appropriately, they protect against glare while still letting in daylight and allowing you to look outside. During the cooler seasons, the slats can be positioned to use solar energy to naturally heat the conservatory. External venetian blinds for corner positions have no guide rails or tension cables to ruin the look of fully glazed corners; here, Warema offers coupled external venetian blinds with no guidance elements in the corners. Window awnings with weather-proof fabrics also provide reliable sun shading. Available in many colours and transparencies, they can be used to enhance the exteriors of modern homes. Window awnings with easyZIP guidance are a practical and attractive solution for fully glazed corners in conservatories. Combined with the right conservatory awnings, they create a coherent overall look and have functional advantages: no additional fixtures are required in corners because both pieces of fabric are linked by a panel and drop profile. They can also be easily raised and lowered using a motor.

And let’s not forget the insect screen and (where required) pollen protection: unwelcome guests are kept away by means of swivel and sash frames or swinging doors, maintaining the relaxing atmosphere.

Warema's high-grade sun shading solutions ensure long-lasting functionality and reliability as well as years of enjoyment. Warema's popular outdoor living products are developed and manufactured in Germany and are covered by a 10-year protection package, guaranteeing ten years of worry-free service. This extends the 5-year manufacturer warranty. In the event of a warranty claim, selected specialised retailers or Warema will take care of the repair with all necessary services. Included maintenance ensures continuous functionality of the products. For more information visit https://www.warema.com/en/service/manufacturer-s-warranty.html
