The client had long been looking for a suitable sun shading solution for the outdoor patio of her 19th-century house. She found a state-of-the-art slat roof by Warema that stylishly accentuates her patio, blends in with the property as a whole and protects against sun, wind and rain.

“It’s simply wonderful to breathe new life into something old”, says the client, who fulfilled a lifelong dream when she purchased the detached tuff house (built in 1823) a little over 10 years ago. A real estate expert, she devoted herself to faithfully renovating the entire property. It now offers 217 square metres of living space across two floors, combining historical ambience with contemporary comfort. The house’s south facade looks out onto the garden, also crafted with love, which extends behind the two sun terraces with a striking rose arch in the middle.

Sophisticated weatherproofing concept

“It proved more difficult than I expected to find a long-lasting, high-quality and attractive sun shading solution for the garden terrace”, the client says. It was particularly important for her to be able to spend quality time outdoors, even in changeable weather, and to protect her premium outdoor lounge furniture. A tip from a friend drew her attention to the Lamaxa slat roof from Warema. Visiting a nearby specialised retailer allowed her to see the model on display, look at all the details and obtain comprehensive information on product variants and services provided. “I was impressed by the sophisticated concept right off the bat, particularly the pivotable slats that can be opened in sunshine and closed when it rains”, she recalls. “What really won me over was the ability to choose the exact colours I wanted.” Her desire to match the pale green RAL colour of her house’s window shutters was easily fulfilled.

Bold colour choice – striking result

“I spent many sleepless nights worrying about how to blend the linear, rather technical design of the slat roof with the venerable exterior walls to create a cohesive look. A contrast like this can be enthralling, but the colours have to match exactly”, she explains, demonstrating her passion for architecture and art.

The qualified specialist that handled the project was impressed by the unusual colour combination for the slat roof, which wonderfully demonstrates the versatility of Lamaxa roof systems. The specialised retailer used myWarema to order an original colour sample quickly and easily, removing any remaining doubts that the RAL tone would look the same on wood as on the aluminium structure. Ultimately, white slats were chosen combined with a pale green support structure.

Solid structure with a personalised touch

The structure is attached to the wall with two load-bearing supports. Due to the high living room windows, poles were installed with a special height of 3.15 metres. The vertical awning on the south side acts as glare control in low-lying sun and, just like the moveable slat elements of the slat roof, can be easily operated via the WMS radio remote control. The slats can be turned by up to 135 degrees and the vertical awning can be positioned as required. A weather station ensures that the slats close automatically if it starts to rain, protecting the garden furniture. Excellent weather resistance and load-bearing capacity make Lamaxa slat roofs extremely appealing, particularly in winter.

“Appealing aesthetics and a harmonious overall design are as crucial for me as outstanding quality”, the client declares proudly. “Every detail had to be scrutinised and carefully chosen. And it’s really paid off!” Since it was completed, the well-protected outdoor seating area underneath the slat roof has become one of her favourite spots.

The Lamaxa slat roof was given the same personalised RAL colour as the existing window shutters. This colour choice combines old and new to create one harmonious property.

The slat roof structure was attached to the wall of the house and two point foundations.

Even in bright sunshine, the slat roof provides the client with a pleasant, shaded spot to relax and enjoy company.

The vertical awning with easyZIP guidance protects against low-lying sun, curious onlookers and strong wind.

The white, powder-coated slats allow the incidence of light to be precisely controlled. The slats can be turned by up to 135 degrees and can also be closed completely.
