The outdoor living trend shows no signs of stopping. Whether a patio, garden, roof terrace or an outdoor hospitality areas, more and more people are creating cozy open-air living spaces. Slat roofs are a particularly popular choice here: They protect against the sun and weather with sophisticated architecture and modern designs, and create a private haven with a wonderful ambience that can be enjoyed in any weather. And while many systems may look similar at first, a closer look reveals significant differences – so it’s worth examining the quality, workmanship and service. Read on for crucial guidance and tips to help you choose the right slat roof.

Seeing the potential in an old building or location is one of an architect’s special skills. When two architects came across a residential building in need of renovation, they found the house of their dreams and didn’t think twice when offered the chance to buy it along with its large plot of land.

The client had long been looking for a suitable sun shading solution for the outdoor patio of her 19th-century house. She found a state-of-the-art slat roof by Warema that stylishly accentuates her patio, blends in with the property as a whole and protects against sun, wind and rain.

A home is a stage that we can design to suit our own lives, and Ute Laatz has fulfilled her long-held wish to design her own home. In just four months, she completely renovated a three-apartment building in the city of Neuss by the Lower Rhine in Germany. Facing southwest, the 1920s brick building basks in the sun around the clock, particularly in summer. A total of eight matte black, smart-controlled WAREMA front-mounted awnings with drop arms protect the windows and facade from the heat while evoking memories of Italian streets with their Mediterranean look.

Many people are finding it increasingly difficult to get a healthy and restful night’s sleep, particularly in the current circumstances. Our bodies and minds need to rest, but when sleep refuses to come, we can end up even more stressed. External factors such as street lighting can exacerbate sleep problems. Shift workers who have to sleep in the middle of the day find it even harder to unwind. Black-out blinds tailored to an individual’s needs help them to relax by darkening rooms no matter how bright it is outside. Warema offers various product solutions that can be perfectly combined.

WAREMA’s new Sun Center in Weert, a city in the Dutch province of Limburg, features its entire range of innovative sun shading solutions. Visitors can immerse themselves in Warema’s products as they tour the building. Specialised retailers and architects can also use the centre to meet with and advise their customers.

More space, a favourable location, a focus on industry 4.0 and sustainability: Warema’s new logistics and production centre in Wertheim-Bettingen was inaugurated on Friday, 23 July 2021. The sun shading company based in Marktheidenfeld opened its new centre to stay abreast of growing capacity requirements and constant corporate growth. The new location at Almosenberg will also create 300 jobs.

One command – or rather one app – to control everything. The flexible homee smart home system combines numerous applications such as light, heating and security in accordance with various wireless standards. Users can easily manage these via voice control, a handheld transmitter or an app. Warema is now expanding its homee modular smart home centre to include an automated sun shading system. The relevant red Warema cube allows the Warema Mobile System (WMS) to be easily integrated so that users can control awnings and roller shutters via homee.

Whatever the weather, Warema's smart sun shading systems allow you to make the best of it. Thanks to individual automation, the perfect home climate can be created depending on the time of day, position of the sun and weather conditions. This saves money and protects the environment because the light and sun shading system regulate themselves perfectly in line with their surroundings. Additional safety is provided by sensors such as the weather station, which can be used to protect against storm damage. Automatic moving of the sun shading system makes it seem as though somebody is home to deter potential intruders. The practical functions and individual lighting can be controlled intuitively and conveniently.

A room’s atmosphere changes as the daylight changes. The fresh, pale rays of the morning sun paint different pictures with light and shadow from the gliding light at noon and the intensively coloured rays of the setting sun in the evening. Every time of the day and year creates a different mood. Which means it is even more important to be able to decide how much sunlight is required for one’s own well-being. Or to put it differently, how much of the outdoors to enjoy indoors. Controlling the light is perfectly simple with external blinds by Warema.
