According to the “Falstaff-Community” gourmet club, the Martinsbräu private brewery in Marktheidenfeld in Germany has one of the most popular beer gardens in Bavaria. Located on the shores of the Main, the brewery has added large Caravita parasols to its spacious outdoor area, which is surrounded by ancient chestnuts, to make guests more comfortable and their stay more enjoyable.

High stability and aesthetic standards
A well-established private brewery in Marktheidenfeld, Martinsbräu is now run by the fourth and fifth generations of the family. Its beer garden on the shores of the Main is a core part of its business and a popular place to meet, particularly in summer. Accordingly, it requires extremely reliable sun shading and weather protection. Over time, its previous shading solutions started to show clear signs of wear. The old parasols weren’t stable enough to cope with the wind. The fabric was also faded and no longer met the brewery’s quality standards. So Maria Martin, who runs the brewery, decided to find something new: “We wanted reliable sun shading and weather protection that is stable, long-lasting and visually appealing.”

Big Ben: efficient shading for large areas
After a personal consultation, the specific plans and measurements were drawn up on site, taking into account the brewery’s riverside location, mature trees and the structure of the beer garden area. The robust and large Big Ben parasols were found to be most suitable – three measuring 450 x 450 cm, and one measuring 400 x 400 cm. Their generous dimensions allow the space to be shaded with comparatively few parasols. This is a real advantage in the day-to-day running of the brewery, as it keeps paths and sight lines free. The wide range of Caravita design options – more than 200 frame colours and around 150 fabric designs – also allowed the parasols to be adapted to the brewery’s corporate design. The fabric has been produced in the company’s signature colour, “ocean blue”, with a logo printed on the canopy and valance, while glossy traffic white was chosen for the frame. This allows the sun shading to blend in perfectly with the beer garden’s overall look while emphasising the Martinsbräu brand identity. For additional comfort, half-length side panels have been added to the parasols. Maria Martin explains: “The panels protect against low-lying sun, particularly in the evenings, without affecting the beer garden’s open atmosphere.”

Mounting with stable screw-in foundation
Mounting the parasols was a key issue. The client wanted to leave the ancient chestnut roots untouched as far as possible, so a classic concrete foundation was out of the question. Instead, a foundation was chosen with Krinner ground screws. This was screwed directly into the ground without any elaborate earthworks, ensuring stable mounting.

Satisfied owners, satisfied guests
Maria Martin is extremely pleased with her new large parasols. “We’re really impressed with how stable they are, even when it’s windy, how reliably they protect against sun and rain, and how good they look. We’ve also had great feedback from our guests. We’ve already recommended Caravita to other hospitality businesses in the region.”

With its new Caravita shading solution, the long-established Martinsbräu brewery has made its beer garden even more attractive to visit – comfortable, secure and great to look at.

The Martinsbräu private brewery in Marktheidenfeld has a beer garden right by the Main – surrounded by ancient chestnut trees.

To make the beer garden even better for guests, the spacious outdoor area was fitted with new Big Ben large parasols from Caravita.

Four large and robust Big Ben parasols were used to shade the brewery’s beer garden – three measuring 450 x 450 cm, one measuring 400 x 400 cm.

The parasols have half-length side panels that protect against low-lying sun, particularly in the evenings – without affecting the beer garden’s open atmosphere.

The shading solution was consistently adapted to the brewery’s signature look.

The fabrics were produced in the brewery’s signature colour (“Acrylic ocean blue”) with an added logo, while RAL 9016 (traffic white, glossy) was chosen for the frame.

To leave the ancient chestnut roots around the beer garden largely untouched, the parasols were secured using a foundation with Krinner ground screws – conserving the ground without any complex earthworks while ensuring a high load-bearing capacity and great stability.
